Laser Gum Therapy
A minimally invasive laser treatment for gum disease, used to help reduce bacteria and inflamed tissue below the gumline.
What laser gum therapy is
Laser gum therapy uses a dental laser to target bacteria and diseased tissue in the pockets between your teeth and gums. It is typically used together with scaling and root planing, not as a replacement for it.
Because the laser works on soft tissue with precision, many patients find the procedure comfortable and recovery straightforward. Whether laser therapy is right for you depends on the stage of gum disease and your overall periodontal health.
What to expect
Your dentist or hygienist will measure pocket depths and review your X-rays to decide where laser therapy can help. Treatment is usually completed with local anesthetic so the area stays comfortable.
Afterward, gums may feel tender for a few days. We will review home care, schedule follow-up to check how the tissues are healing, and set up a periodontal maintenance plan to keep gum disease under control.
